Nigeria vs Zam: Rohr sticks with Ezenwa

Barring unforeseen circumstances IfeanyiUbah FC shot stopper Ikechukwu Ezenwa will remain in goal when the Super Eagles face Chipolopolo of Zambia in their next 2018 World Cup qualifying match on October 7 in Uyo, New Telegraph has reliably learnt.
Ezenwa warmed himself into the hearts of Nigerians with his performance in the last two World Cup qualifying games against Cameroon. He was impressive with the way he handled the pressure when he was called upon to man the goal post after second choice goalie, Daniel Akpeyi, was certified unfit to play against the Lions.
Akpeyi has regained his fitness after he turned out for Chippa United in the South African league and he is now primed for a return to the starting lineup of the Super Eagles
But our correspondent learnt from a source in the Nigeria Football Federation that the coach Rohr would keep the captain of the home-based Eagles Ezenwa in goal against Zambia ahead of Akpeyi.
According to the source, Rohr was impressed with Ezenwa’s calmness and composure against the Lions and the goalie’s performance in the ongoing West African Football Union Nations Cup in Ghana where he is yet to concede a goal has totally solidified the coach’s decision to give him the nod for the Zambia tie.
“Coach Rohr is fully aware of what is going on in Ghana and of importance to him is the performance of Ezenwa because he wants to use him for the Zambia game. I know that he spoke with Coach Salisu Yusuf and Alloy Agu about the goalkeeper and he was impressed by the report he so far.
“The plans for the Zambia tie has reached advanced stage and one of the key areas he wanted to sort out before the players return to camp is that of goalkeeping and he seems to have made up his mind now,” he said.
